Clerical Specialist (CREO)

Department 

Head Start/Early Head Start (Centralized Recruitment and Enrollment Office - CREO)

Job Summary 

Under general supervision, the Clerical Specialist provides clerical and office support to ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of CREO. This role works closely with the Recruitment and Enrollment Administrator and serves as a key point of contact for internal staff, and families visiting or contacting CREO with intent to enroll their children in Head Start Preschool and/or Early Head Start. Key Responsibilities: Perform general clerical duties, including typing, filing, and maintaining organized records; Accurately enter, update, and retrieve data using computerized systems; Answer and direct phone calls; greet and assist visitors in a professional manner; Conduct preliminary assessments and assist individuals with completing enrollment applications; Provide high-quality customer service and maintain positive interpersonal interactions; Process incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence; Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities effectively; Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing; Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; Perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and percentages; Complete other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements 

Must have High School Diploma or GED and one year working in an office environment carrying out clerical/office support duties; Brings to the position strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment; proficiency with data entry and general computer applications; excellent communication and customer service skills; and attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks Successful completion of post physical examination, has reliable transportation (minimal travel across service area/Summit County and for training/ongoing professional development may be required); Fingerprint and background checks conducted (FBI, BCI&I, Sex Offender Registry and Child Abuse and Neglect).

Pay Rate 

$16.76/hr (Pay Level 6)
