Community Service Specialist (Emergency Services/Utility Assistance/Neighborhood Development)

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision and in accordance with funding source regulations and agency/program guidelines, responsibilities include: provide quality customer service; conduct customer assessment, intake and eligibility determination for emergency services assistance (e.g. food, clothing,  vision/dental, household items and seasonal gift baskets; rent/mortgage), utility assistance (Home Energy Assistance Program/HEAP, Percentage of Income Payment Plus/PIPP, Water/Sewer), and other program service initiatives to support customer self-sufficiency; provide referrals to community resources and/or related agency services; collect and enter customer information into online data portal; collect and maintain data to assist with preparation of required program reports; participate in neighborhood development initiatives; assist with community group meetings and other related outreach events; perform various clerical support functions and other related duties, as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Completion of post-secondary education with an Associate Degree or equivalent combinations of experience and/or education and a minimum of one (1) year work experience in human services organization. Proficient computer/word processing aptitude (i.e. ability to work in MS Applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook) with data entry/retrieval operations. Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and transportation (limited travel may be required); drug-test, Criminal background checks and post-employment physical conducted.

PAY RATE

15.51 per hour (Pay Level 7)

INCETIVE

$2,000 sign-on incentive ($1,000 at first pay check after hire and $1,000 after six months of consecutive work) and 10% temporary salary increase, per pay period

CLASSIFICATION/SCHEDULE

Regular, Full-Time / Non-Exempt / Monday–Friday / 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Some weekends and evenings)
