Job Summary:
Under supervision and in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Day Care Licensing Guidelines, and USDA/Food Service requirements, the Program Aide supports the classroom teaching team in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children enrolled in Head Start Preschool/Early Head Start. Responsibilities include assist with daily classroom activities and routines, active supervision, health and safety practices, and curriculum implementation while supporting each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development; help with meals, snacks, toileting, diapering, handwashing, dressing, classroom transitions, arrival and dismissal, indoor and outdoor learning activities, and special classroom events; help clean classroom materials, equipment, and learning areas; support positive guidance and classroom management strategies; follow health, safety, sanitation, confidentiality, and child health and safety requirements; participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and program activities; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must have High School Diploma or GED with demonstrated experience in working with children 6 weeks up to age 5; and six-months classroom experience and/or equivalent combination of experience and/or education; Must be willing to work towards achievement of Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and achieve within two years from date of hire. Proficient computer/word processing aptitude (i.e. ability to work in MS Applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook); Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and transportation (travel may be required for classroom coverage and training); pre-employment fingerprint and background checks conducted (FBI, BCI&I, Sex Offender Registry and Child Abuse and Neglect) and post-employment physical.
Site Assignment:
Worksite is based on program needs and subject to change, during employment.
Work Schedule:
Year-Round with Agendy Paid Holidays
Pay Rate:
$17.22/hr; (Pay Level 6)
